Virat Kholi is taking retirement in all formats
Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from T20 Internationals, but not from all formats. He made this announcement after India's historic T20 World Cup 2024 win over South Africa, where he scored 76 off 59 deliveries to help his team secure the title ¹. Kohli expressed his desire to let the next generation take over, stating that it's time for them to "take this team further from here now" ¹.
Kohli's retirement from T20Is marks the end of an illustrious chapter in his career, with 4188 runs scored in 125 matches at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04 ¹. He is the second-highest scorer in the format, with only Rohit Sharma having accumulated more runs (4231) in T20Is ¹.
While Kohli has hinted at taking a break after retiring from cricket, he hasn't confirmed retirement from other formats like ODIs and Tests ². In fact, Kohli has been in tremendous form in the ongoing IPL, sitting atop the run charts with 661 runs in 13 innings at 66.10 ².
Nice, I proud of you.
